Leveraging LiDAR to Protect Endangered Species
The Problem
A pipeline operator needed to assess and prioritize extensive vegetative maintenance for the thousands of miles of ROW. The acquisition of assets from another entity led to completely overgrown areas, rendering them unsuitable for aerial patrols.
Solution
Teren used the client's existing LiDAR data to produce vegetation analytics including:
- Grading Obstruction
- Vegetative Overgrowth
- Monarch Butterfly Habitat Optimization
The client was able to use the analytics to identify and prioritize areas for vegetative maintenance as well as flag areas to be preserved for the monarch butterfly.
